Custom Cake Ordering Information

Ordering a Custom Cake from Cakebread

How do I order a Custom cake?

To order a custom cake, please fill out our Custom Cake Inquiry Form. Include your event date, venue location, guest count, inspiration photos, and any questions.

We respond within 2–4 business days to confirm availability and begin your quote.

Wedding Cake Timeline

How far in advance should I order my wedding cake?

We recommend ordering your wedding cake at least 4 months in advance, especially for peak wedding season in the Comox Valley and Campbell River area.

We take on a limited number of custom cakes each month to ensure quality and attention to detail.

How much notice is needed for custom cakes?

Custom (non-wedding) cakes typically require 2–3 weeks’ notice, depending on size and design complexity.

Delivery & Pick Up Options

Do you offer local delivery options in the Comox Valley or surrounding area?

For wedding cakes we do not offer delivery.

Can I pick up my cake?

Yes! Pickup is available at our Courtenay bakery location:

Monday to Saturday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

We will ensure your cake is packaged securely. Once the cake leaves the bakery, we are not responsible for damage during transport. A signature is required at time of hand off - please make us aware of pick up arrangements in advance.

Payment & Deposits

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your order date.

The remaining balance must be paid at least two weeks before your event. Production begins only after full payment is received.

Cake Flavours & Buttercream

What kind of frosting do you use?

We use our signature Italian Meringue Buttercream, ideal for weddings and events, due to its smooth texture and balanced sweetness.

Flavours include:

Vanilla
Citrus
Berry
Peanut Butter
Mocha
Coconut
…and more.

Cake Tastings

Do you offer tastings?

We are not currently offering formal tastings. We recommend trying slices of our in-store cakes to explore flavour options.

Wedding Cake Desserts & Add-Ons

Do you offer other desserts for weddings?

Yes! We offer a variety of desserts for weddings and events:

Cupcakes
Dessert bars
Cookies

We also offer a 10% discount on wedding favours from Hot Chocolates when you order your wedding cake with us.

Do you provide service rentals?

Yes, we can provide cupcake stands for an additional fee. Rentals must be cleaned and returned to the bakery within 48 hours of your event.

Minimum Orders

Is there a mimimum order?

There is no minimum order for cakes. For serving size information, click here.

Cupcakes and sugar cookies require a minimum of 24 per flavour.
