Wedding/Custom Cakes FAQ

How do I order a Custom cake?

Please fill out our Custom cake inquiry form on website, event date, approximate guest count, cake inspiration photos and initial questions and we will get back to you in 2-4 business days to confirm if your date is available, gather more information and start the custom quote process.

 

How soon do I need to order my wedding cake?

The earlier the better. We recommend ordering your cake 4 months before your wedding. We have limited custom cake bookings each month and need time to organize, plan and execute your dream cake!

What about a Custom cake?

As stated above the earlier the better. Depending on size and amount of custom work done we ask for 2-3 weeks.

 

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, we require a $100 non-refundable deposit to confirm your date. Your date will not be booked until your deposit has been received. The deposit is applied to the total cost of your cake. Cake orders must be paid in full at least two weeks before the event date. The production of your cake will not begin until the final payment has been made.

 

Do you deliver?

No, we do not deliver wedding cakes. All orders must be arranged to be picked up during regular store hours: Monday – Saturday between 8 am and 5 pm. [When picking up your cake we will confirm and sign that the cake was received in good order. Every effort will be made to package your cake securely. Once the cake leaves the bakery, we are not responsible for any damage that may occur during handling or transportation]. Please always keep the box/boxes flat.

 

Do you provide service rentals?

Yes, we do provide rental cupcake stands for an additional fee! All rentals must be cleaned and returned to the bakery within 48 hours of your event.

What type of frosting/icing do you use?

We frost wedding cakes with our delicious signature Italian Meringue Buttercream. Our buttercream can be flavoured with a variety of flavours such as vanilla, citrus, berries, peanut butter, mocha, coconut and more! Buttercream can also be coloured to match your wedding colour palette. We can also frost cakes with Chocolate American Buttercream. Our fillings include but are not limited to fruit curds, sauces/compotes & jams.

Do you offer tastings?

We are not offering tastings currently. We do suggest picking up a slice of each of our available standard & seasonal cakes to pick out the flavours you like!

 

Do you make other desserts for weddings?

Yes! We can make cupcakes to go with your cake or all cupcakes if that’s more your style! We also offer a selection of bars & cookies and of course any of your favorite Hot Chocolates’ Chocolate!

We’re also happy to offer a 10% discount on Hot Chocolates wedding favors when you order your cake from Cakebread. Ask for more information when ordering your cake!

 

Do I need to meet a minimum order?

We do not require a minimum order for our cakes. We do require a minimum order of 24 Sugar Cookies or Cupcakes in each flavor ordered.
