Our 40th Anniversary Celebration: Winners, Photos & Thank you

It was incredible celebrating two very special milestones on Saturday—40 years of Hot Chocolates and 20 years of Cakebread Artisan Bakery. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for the celebration and helped make the day such a memorable success.

From the moment our doors opened, downtown Courtenay was filled with excitement. Customers enjoyed anniversary specials, explored local businesses, admired an impressive display of Volkswagens, and took part in our Downtown Scavenger Hunt.

The scavenger hunt was created with one simple goal: to encourage people to discover businesses they may never have visited before. Judging by the feedback we received from participants, it did exactly that.

Many customers told us they found wonderful new shops, met local business owners, and enjoyed exploring downtown in a whole new way. Seeing our community connect in this way was one of the highlights of the entire celebration!

If you missed out on the fun, Downtown Courtenay captured a wonderful video of the celebration, including the beautiful weather and incredible cars we enjoyed downtown.

A Very Special Thank You

Events like this are only possible because of the incredible people who dedicate their time and energy behind the scenes.

A huge thank you goes to Graham from Comox Valley Volkswagen, whose support helped bring an amazing collection of cars to downtown. It was wonderful to have you celebrate your 40th anniversary milestone as well!

Thank you to Ken and the members of the Valley Vee Dub Club for sharing their beautiful vehicles and helping create such a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day.

Finally, a very special thank you to Greg, Executive Director of the Downtown Courtenay BIA, for helping coordinate the event and for his continued support of our downtown business community.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to every downtown business that helped make the scavenger hunt such a success. Each business welcomed participants, created a unique question, and generously donated prizes, helping introduce visitors to the wonderful variety of shops and services that make downtown Courtenay such a special place.

Our heartfelt thanks go to 5th Street Florist, Cherry Wine Fashions, Design Therapy, Euspira, Foxy Box, Graham's Jewellers, High Tide Public House, Home & Garden Gate, House of Colour, Ivory & Grey, Laliberté Cheese, Mercedes Lane Too, Mignon & Kie, New Look Eyewear, QE Home, Red Fox Botanicals, Scotiabank, Secret Drawers Lingerie, Soulstar Metaphysics, Tea Centre, The Mustard Lady, Uptown Yarns, and VV Boutique.

Together, we helped people discover local businesses, support downtown Courtenay, and celebrate what makes our community so special. Thank you for helping us make our 40th anniversary a celebration of our entire downtown.

Thank You to Our Community

For 40 years, Hot Chocolates has been proud to call downtown Courtenay home. For 20 years, Cakebread Artisan Bakery has shared that journey alongside us.

These milestones would never have been possible without the loyalty and support of our customers, our staff, our families, and this incredible community.

Thank you for celebrating with us, for supporting local businesses, and for being part of our story.

Here’s to the next chapter—and many more sweet memories to come!
